About Barış

Contact

For Barış Agun, the Turkish legal sector is not simply a market in which he works — it is a community he has spent years helping to connect, promote and develop.

Background

His experience was shaped during seven years with The Legal 500, including as Business Development Manager for Türkiye. In that period he developed close relationships with law firms and in-house legal teams throughout the country, while helping to expand The Legal 500’s presence, activity and engagement within the Turkish market.

He brings more than two decades of wider business development experience together with years spent working directly inside Türkiye’s legal market. That combination — commercial judgement and a deep read of the people in the room — is the background everything else is built on.

Barış has become a highly visible and well-connected figure across the profession, working closely with leading law firms, General Counsel, Heads of Legal, senior in-house lawyers and other key decision-makers. His approach has always gone beyond traditional business development: bringing people together, creating opportunities, and giving the Turkish legal community platforms through which to connect and be seen.

Connections

A central part of the work is understanding people: who the leading lawyers are, where firms and legal departments are developing, which organisations are looking to grow, and where the next opportunities may emerge.

That knowledge allows Barış to act as a bridge between law firms, businesses, in-house legal departments and individual lawyers. Whether supporting a firm with business development, introducing organisations to potential strategic partners, helping lawyers explore career opportunities or connecting businesses with legal talent, the emphasis is always on making relevant and valuable introductions.

The in-house legal community sits at the heart of that network. Over the years Barış has conceived, organised and hosted conferences, networking events, roundtables and community initiatives — from gatherings attended by hundreds of members of the profession to more focused, sector-specific rooms designed for real conversation.

The result is an extensive network built not simply from contacts, but from years of direct interaction and trusted relationships across the market.

Brands

Barış continues to invest in brands designed to support and promote the wider Turkish legal market — not as side projects, but as a connected ecosystem.

Through the Barış Agun Business Development Agency, the team provides strategic business development, marketing and growth support to Turkish and international law firms.

The acquisition of Turkish Law Blog added one of Türkiye’s established legal publishing platforms to that group, dedicated to legal knowledge, visibility and professional development.

Together with GC Elite Türkiye and GC Connect Istanbul, these brands create dedicated rooms for Türkiye’s in-house legal community to meet, exchange ideas, celebrate achievement and develop new professional relationships. The ambition is an ecosystem that connects law firms, in-house counsel and the profession at large.

Team

The team works as an extension of the people they support, rather than as a distant consultancy. Relationships are built directly. Introductions are carefully considered. Opportunities are followed through.

Barış remains personally involved. Whether the counterpart is a managing partner, a General Counsel, an HR leader or a lawyer considering a next move, personal contact is held throughout the relationship — not handed off once the first conversation is done.

That is the difference: market knowledge, relationships and accessibility, held by a small team that stays close to the work. The ambition is for Barış Agun to remain a trusted name at the centre of the Turkish legal sector — connecting its people, creating opportunities and helping the market continue to grow.
